Main Responsibilities of the role

We carry with pleasure the great responsibility of leading teams in developing and operating platforms and services. The biggest part of our job is making decisions based on past experience and/or quick experimentation of new possibilities while supporting the team on their daily technical activities. We ensure we understand the requirements and the reason for which something is being done and we look at implementing resilient, scalable, secure, operable, reusable and flexible systems to support those use cases. Our approach is to make deliberables iteratively and quickly available. While we're very loyal to our technical principles we know when compromises make sense. We enjoy great autonomy in our role while ensuring we're aligned with our peers, the Truphone's Platform Architecture and the Technology Governance. We also participate in recruitment activities and publish engineering blog posts that could interest other engineering fellows from Truphone and across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

The Tech Lead is the person we trust in, and to whom we delegate the technical authority of a given scope.

  • Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends tech solutions and best practices;
  • Leads the team's engineers by example, acting as a mentor in the engineering craft;
  • Participates in recruitment activities to engage and select candidates matching our criteria;
  • Establishes and mantains high quality engineering standards;
  • Keeps the other engineers engaged with the technologies we're working with;
  • Evolves the engineering maturity to be on par with the non-functional and functional state-of-the-art;
  • Drives customer-centric, global scale architecture and implementation within the team;
  • Communicates transparently to the whole business;
  • Reaches out to other teams and works towards alignment and overall continuous improvement;
  • Acts as a beacon of excellence and as an employee of reference;
  • Promotes the Truphone brand internally and externally.
Skills and Experience Required

Track record of having past team members referring as a technical leader.

  • Proven experience in developing and operating scalable and resilient systems in an effectively distributed ecosystem;
  • Hacks solutions easily and works with a great diversity of technologies;
  • Knows what good looks like;
  • Able to anticipate needs:
    • Anticipates problems and addresses them before they cause impact;
  • High attention to detail:
    • Understands how big-picture goals inform technical details and vice-versa;
  • Liked and engaging:
    • Knows how to manage emotions and values re-enforcing relationships;

    • Focused on profitability and aligning "the what" and "the how" with "the why";
