Main Purpose of the role

The Technical Support Engineer is part of a multilingual team that provides 24/7 second tier support to Truphone customers and business partners.

The purpose of the role is to investigate and troubleshoot single customer faults and service problems across a wide range of technologies, from GSM to VoIP applications, Value Added Services, Business Support Systems and IoT services. 

 Key Accountabilities 

  1. Second tier support of failures on platforms/services, following established procedure, to provide a fix and mitigate the impact to the customer whenever possible;
  2. Address internal/external support requests raised via the agreed processes and interfaces
  3. Escalate complex incidents to third level support (internal/external) teams;
  4. Maintain a repository of documentation, configuration and procedures to effectively operate the systems, platforms and services;

Required skills

  1. Knowledge on mobile networks architecture and protocols (2G/3G/4G);
  2. High degree of technical knowledge in networking, spanning voice, data and IT technologies with troubleshooting skills for GSM Core Elements;
  3. Proficiency on BSS systems (CRM platform, Salesforce, Red Hat JBoss Fuse & BRMS, .NET based Services).
  4. Knowledge on IoT services and platforms is a PLUS;
  5. Ability to manage incidents involving complex networks, services and systems.
  6. Able to work independently, with minimum supervision with strong analytical capabilities with customer-focused mindset.
  7. Solid background working with Technology and IT systems.
  8. Working proficiency in English and great ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

Supporting skills

  1. Skilled in trouble ticket or work order systems.
  2. Proficient in data analysis and reporting applications.
  3. Experience working on a 24/7 NOC team.

  1. 2+ years as an operational engineer in a demanding technology-driven environment.
  2. Computer Science or Telecommunications engineering degree or relevant experience.
