Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, the Commercial Contracts Manager is responsible for drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements and ensuring compliance of legal terms and conditions by Truphone and its suppliers.   A broad-based role that combines aspects of commercial management, contracts negotiation, bid management and contributes to the financial performance, service delivery and development of long-term strategic growth for the largest and more complex customer contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key company representative in global complex, contract negotiations with suppliers including identification, assessment and management of commercial models and/or risks arising from either proposed deals or in-life contracts.
  • Drafting and negotiating complex global commercial contracts to support the demands of a rapidly growing communications business.  These include; communications service agreements, trial agreements, license agreements, contract addenda, supplier/partner agreements locally and globally.
  • Managing the commercial purchasing process for the business including review and management of RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
  • Management of commercial aspects of important supplier relationships required to deliver contracted or new services to the company.
  • To support the company's sales revenue, by managing and developing in-life contractual relationships and by drafting and maintaining general mobile supply agreements for B2B customers locally and globally.
  • Advising country heads, Technology and Finance of contractual rights and obligations and provide clarification of contract terms and conditions.
  • Interpretation of contract policies, operating practices, and performance standards.
  • Review and resolution of issues affecting company compliance and ensure satisfaction of legal requirements.

Skills and Experience Required

  • 5-10 years' commercial experience in the development, negotiation, and execution of contracts.  Demonstrable experience in all elements of managing major contracts.
  • A law degree and experience of drafting, negotiating and managing English law contracts.
  • A background in the mobile or wider telecoms / IT industry sector is beneficial, not essential.
  • Facilities management and property experience desirable.
  • Familiarity with contract and licensing issues such as Limitations of Liability, Indemnification, Warranties, etc.  
  • Excellent English Language Sills
  • Ability to negotiate and conclude contracts in English and any experience in one or more additional European language, preferably German is useful.
  • A high level of business acumen; strong attention to detail; exceptional customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to quickly build and maintain relationships at senior levels, both externally and internally.
  • Outstanding communication skills to offer a professional, authoritative and confident service.
  • Ability to work autonomously where required and to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to problem solve, find working solutions and use initiative to improve legal and commercial situations.
