What if your car could tell you when it needs a service, find parking and let you pay for it without opening the door?
Kia wanted a car that would give drivers check-ups on their vehicle and offer location-based services at any time, anywhere in the world: a future-proof solution to a growing IoT community.
None of this would be possible without a smart device providing 24/7 reliable connectivity, and creating seamless global connectivity for motor vehicles initially presented itself a challenge. Automotive pioneers, The Plan B Company, turned to Truphone because of its offer to provide advanced connectivity to nations around the world . This, combined with The Plan B Company's leadership in data intelligence, was a pioneering proposition from KIA.
The combined solution intelligently connects the car to service anywhere in the world and presents new possibilities for both drivers and passengers. New models of Kia now have access to a global network spanning 220 nations with local servicing and a simple tiered pricing structure based on an all-inclusive bundle.
Truphone's patented, fast-switching SIM was able to rapidly localise when switched on in a new country. This means that The Plan B Company can provision cars with the Truphone SIM anywhere in the world and build a future-proof solution. Truphone’s IoT platform also provided life-cycle management while cloud-based management services enable an "install once, deploy anywhere" approach. The platform gives The Plan B Company a fully configurable dashboard for real-time reporting, a comprehensive rules engine, rapid deployment and over-the-air reconfiguration. Additionally, Truphone’s technology, REST API, contains technology that allows for open, secure integration with their existing systems.
Combining capabilities for a future-proof solution.
