Main Purpose of the role

Truphone is currently expanding the Data Platform team with a number of interesting roles, one of them being the Big Data Lead Architect. The main purpose of the role is to have the technical responsibility to build and continuously develop our Big Data platform and work on data architecture. This role will be reporting to the Manager of the Data Platform in close alignment with the HoD Architecture. You will be interacting with a number of teams within Truphone (Software Development, Engineering, BI, Architecture Community and a number of business teams) throughout the delivery of different projects.

Your role will be covering the data management architecture on various technologies. You will provide technical guidance within the data team to support the development teams in day to day usage of the platform, enforcing principles and designing best-of-breed solutions. You will be helping us to evolve the data architecture and ensure our teams have the best tools available to perform analytics, build machine learning models, BI dashboards and data streaming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Being our single point of contact for architecture and technical related subjects
  • Own the overall solution design
  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed design
  • Define structure, integrate, govern, store, describe, model, and maintain data in the organization for accuracy and usage maintaining current state
  • Evaluate and decide upon the new tools and solution to put in place based on the defined vision
  • Guarantee architectural guidelines are followed around resilience, security, scalability and other relevant areas
  • Guide and support team decisions on day to day solutions
  • Propose best practices/standards
  • Capacity planning

Skills and Experience required

  • Strong experience in Business Intelligence and/or Data Management domain
  • Strong background in software engineering (agile methodologies, continuous integration and delivery)
  • Proficiency in object oriented and functional programming languages (Python, Scala, Java and others)
  • Excellent data modelling capabilities
  • Strong grasp of mathematical statistics
  • Good understanding of cloud services and scalable infra-structure
  • Experience with:
    • Data processing frameworks (Spark SQL, Spark streaming, Hadoop, AWS EMR, etc.)
    • Columnar data (Parquet, Druid, RedShift, Kudo, etc.)
    • Distributed query engines (AWS Athena, Presto, etc.)
    • Integration systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NiFi, etc.)
    • Other database systems (relational, document and object)
    • BI tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau, Superset, Metabase, PowerBI, etc.)
    • Proven analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Solid oral and written communication skills in English
    • Team and process-oriented mindset
