Main Purpose of the Role

  • End-to-end commercial responsibility for MVNO airtime connectivity in new or defined Truphone home countries by: creating and gaining approval for strategies and roadmaps in response to business requirements.
  • Negotiating & establishing strategic wholesale commercial relationships, negotiating commercial, contractual agreements that meet the needs of the business.
  • Driving implementation internally & with 3rd parties as necessary; post-implementation management, resolution of operational and commercial escalations.
  • Internal stakeholder management, driving and improving business processes

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive cost reduction through the negotiation of new agreements and the effective management of existing agreements;
  • Expand the Truphone sales footprint in line with the broader company business plan by negotiating MVNO agreements in territories identified by Truphone as new home countries;
  • Ensure that Truphone's business requirements are fully embedded in any commercial agreement;
  • Maintain - effectively manage existing MVNO agreements to optimise benefits for Truphone
  • Build commercial resilience and flexibility into Truphone's MVNO portfolio.
  • Support the creation of Truphone's MVNE business via commercial negotiation and requirements definition.
  • Commercial responsibility for in country national voice interconnect and transit arrangements and SMS interworking arrangements.

Relevant skills - personal

  • Senior management team member with deep appreciation of the overall Truphone strategy and the role of wholesale within this.
  • Demonstrates leadership and a change mindset, driving for agile right first time outcomes with operators
  • Comfortable in ambiguous commercial strategic environments, a self starter and some one who thrives on the 'challenge'
  • A rigorous, structured and strong collaborator across the business
  • A strong completer / finisher mentality

Relevant skills - business

  • Relevant experience demonstrating the ability to originate, structure and execute full MVNO deals
  • Ability to understand and optimise commercials across entire operator routing / call flow interactions including RAN, fixed interconnect, MVNO call termination etc
  • Extensive track record in leading, high value, complex multi year MVNO deal negotiations
  • Strong commercial and negotiations skills reflecting the need to implement evolving business strategy whilst balancing service level, service quality, pricing and value commitments
  • Detailed understanding of mobility in commercial, technical and operational terms
  • Credible in collaborating with engineering departments of truphone and operators, integrating technical and commercial considerations within projects
  • Comfortable constructively  challenging senior colleagues to secure outcomes even if unpopular
  • Ability to drive complex multi disciplinary teams to complete projects on time and ensure business benefits are delivered in line with plan
  • Detailed understanding of GSMA, regulatory and operating principles as reflected within applicable standards
  • Strong 'airtime' market knowledge including price trends, impact of regulation
  • Extensive industry contacts opening doors for Truphone to establish new arrangements in new countries.
