Truphone helps Másmóvil ready its operator brands for a truly digital future

MÁSMÓVIL business challenge
The MÁSMÓVIL Group is one of the big four mobile operators in Spain, boasting a diverse portfolio of brands such as Yoigo, Pepephone and MÁSMÓVIL.
In 2019, noticing a growing demand for more digital experiences– especially among its Pepephone customers which comprise a much younger user base – MÁSMÓVIL decided to invest in eSIM technology. In their view, eSIM would grow steadily over the following months and years, with operators soon being expected to offer the technology as a mandatory service. What’s more, MÁSMÓVIL was attracted by the more efficient SIM supply chain that eSIM allows, providing customers with instant and seamless mobile connectivity.
MÁSMÓVIL wanted to get its business eSIM ready and needed a sturdy remote SIM provisioning (RSP) platform that was secure and flexible. What’s more, it needed to be onboarded quickly and in discrete stages—starting with its Pepephone brand and followed quickly by Yoigo and MÁSMÓVIL —while minimising the impact on Pepephone’s systems.
Its executives also noted the opportunities to connect more and more consumer devices, not least the Apple Watch, for which it would require an Entitlements Server platform that integrated with the RSP platform and could be launched quickly to customers.
Truphone proposed a strategic partnership to enable MÁSMÓVIL to innovate with the introduction of eSIM services and new digital onboarding customer experiences. It committed to enable Pepephone to launch eSIM services on the iPhone in only five weeks from contract signature and extend the implementation to all MÁSMÓVIL brands in the shortest possible timeframe.
The agreement took on a partnership quality whereby MÁSMÓVIL and Truphone would jointly develop new use cases for the introduction of eSIM services to ensure full alignment with MÁSMÓVIL’s customer requirements.
