My Truphone launches low-cost data plans for domestic use

Reduced prices offer cheaper alternative should users run out of data from their domestic provider
Brand-new European business plan launched: 100GB for €200 for 60 days
New pricing aims to help those working remotely, or having difficulty keeping connected to loved ones

Today Truphone is pleased to announce a raft of pricing changes on its My Truphone app—designed for domestic use.

My Truphone – launched in 2018 on the iPhone and now available on certain eSIM-enabled Android devices – has gained considerable success as a travel data app, providing attractive data plans for those travelling abroad.

As more people across the world are working remotely, their increasing reliance on home Wi-Fi – often shared with many others in the household – is causing reduced speeds and poor connections.

Through customer research, Truphone found that many are resorting to smartphone hotspots to stay connected. This prompted the company to repurpose its My Truphone app to provide an easy and affordable way to top up personal data packages that may be running low—even when users are in their home countries. And, for those able to expense work-related data, the app provides a separate bill which makes it easy to differentiate from personal usage.

The move also sees Truphone bring forward its plans to launch a significant price reduction in key locations. This includes a 100GB package for €200 or £200 which can be used across EU countries, including the United Kingdom.

The new plans launch today and are available to new and existing customers with an eSIM enabled smartphone. My Truphone is available to download on the App Store and the Google Play Store. The first 100MB is free so users are able to test their connections before committing to a plan.

Ralph Steffens, CEO, Truphone said: “Despite the current global challenges we all are facing, our motivation at Truphone remains the same: to enable as many people as possible to stay productive and keep in touch with the people closest to them.

While restrictions mean less international travel, we all still need data—even in our home offices. Maintaining both business and personal relationships are now more important than ever and we are pleased to be offering what we can to facilitate this.

We often say that the better the world connects, the better the world—and we believe this to be more important now than ever. We hope that this will afford our customers more chances to keep in touch with friends, family, colleagues and, importantly, the rest of the world.”

The new plans are available today and pricing is as follows. Unless otherwise specified, all plans last for 30 days.
