2. Call forwarding

   How much does call forwarding cost?

   • Truphone to Truphone calls are always free for both the caller and the recipient - if both parties are online.
   • If you have a US or UK Truphone number, you will always receive your calls for free - when you're online (there's no inbound call charges when you're online with Truphone).
   • If you have a US or UK Truphone number, we will forward your incoming calls from ordinary landlines and mobiles to your US/UK mobile for free - when you are offline.
   
   

   Please note - even when calls are free there may be a separate charge for connection via a commercial hotspot, such as those provided by The Cloud in the UK.

   UK Truphone account:

   Rest of World (Truphone Out+)

   Call forwarding is not required for customers without a Truphone number. When making a Truphone call, your friends and contacts will see your existing mobile number displayed on their screen. Calls to your mobile number will be delivered by your service provider as normal.

   * 'Chargeable forwards' will be charged according to Truphone's highly competitive VoIP rates (see our Pricing page).

   Of course, if your GSM/cellular operator charges you to receive a call (for instance, when roaming abroad), you will still have to pay the charges to them. One more reason to stay connected to Truphone and enjoy the savings!

3. Truphone over 3G

   Truphone works over 3G - this is great if you've got a generous (or 'all-you-can-eat') data tariff, but do note that cost, quality and availability of 3G services vary enormously.

   While it is possible to talk for free walking down the street, it is also possible to run up a huge bill this way. Be sure to check both that your operator allows this and what your tariff is - especially when you're roaming overseas. It is great though.

   Please note that this is in beta. Not all 3G networks were created equal or are quite ready for VoIP.

4. Truphone SMS (beta)

   Text messages are FREE between registered Truphone users (i.e. both of you are connected to Truphone), or enjoy a flat-rate of 10p or 20c to all regular mobile numbers (and Truphone users who are offline)

   It's also FREE for Truphone users to receive (great when you're roaming overseas)

   SMS over IP is a breakthrough technology developed by Truphone, but is still in beta. Do not rely on SMS over IP for important messages.

   In particular, please note inbound SMS for users with +1 Truphone numbers is not yet possible. We are addressing this. However, all Truphone users can send texts outbound.

   Texting premium numbers from Truphone is not possible.
