Is there anything funny about using Truphone, like dialling special codes?

No. There are no special dial codes to worry about, and you don't need a data connection.

Truphone works just like any other regular phone network, wherever you have phone coverage. Make and receive calls as normal.

The only difference is that you will make incredible savings worldwide.

Note: In a small number of countries where roaming would not usually be possible you can still make calls using the call-back method. We will notify you by text message when you arrive in a country where callback is the default option with instructions.
