Words and meanings
Although we try to avoid overly complicated terms, sometimes it’s unavoidable. Find out what the terminology means here and if there’s a word you think we should add, do let us know.
Local number
A mobile number that is local to a particular country. For example, a local UK number is a number that starts with +44. With Tru you can add local numbers from every Tru country onto the one SIM card for a monthly fee.

Local rates
For a monthly fee, you pay local rates in all Tru countries for calls, texts and data when you are in that country, instead of paying roaming rates. All on the one SIM, so no need to carry multiple SIMs when travelling.

Roaming refers to when you use your phone outside of the home country of the network.

SIM card
The Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card is a small removable chip that stores the information your phone needs to connect to your network operator. This means, that by changing SIM cards you can change your network operator.

Tru country
A country within our Global Network, meaning that you can add local rates and a local number for that country to your Tru SIM. Currently, the Tru countries are the UK, USA and Australia.

Unlocked cell phone
An unlocked cell phone is one that can use different network SIM cards. If you are not sure whether your phone is unlocked, borrow a SIM from a friend who is on a different cell network, insert it into your phone, and see if it works. If it works, that means your phone is unlocked and will be fine to use a Tru SIM.
