Making a call
The Tru App for iPhone offers great call rates to mobiles and landlines anywhere in the world. Exactly the same call charges apply from wherever in the world, you connect to, and use Tru. For full tariff details please see our low rates
The Tru App now works when connected via Wi-Fi, 3G, or by routing the call via your GSM/cellular operator (Tru Anywhere).
Make a Tru VoIP Call
Connecting to Truphone via Wi-Fi or 3G is the easiest and cheapest way to make Tru calls.
1. Begin by touching the Keypad button.
Tru will automatically connect using any active Wi-Fi or 3G connection.
To enable Truphone over 3G:
1. Navigate to the iPhone's Home screen
2. Select Settings > Truphone
3. Set ‘Enable VoIP over 3G’ to ‘On’
2. To make a Tru call simply dial a number as usual and touch
Tip International numbers begin with + or 00/011 followed by the country code. For example, to call the UK dial: ‘+44XXXXXXXXXX’.
3. During a call you will have access to the following in call features:
Mute: Mute your voice
Keypad: Displays the keypad
Speaker: Enable speakerphone
4. Instead of manually entering a phone number, you can instead choose to call a contact from your standard iPhone contacts list.
Simply select the 
button from the Keypad screen.
Tip! To ensure that the call connects, please make sure your contacts are saved in standard international format!
Make a Tru Anywhere Call
If you are not connected to Wi-Fi, and do not have 3G coverage (or have not enabled Tru over 3G), you will be given the option to make a Tru Anywhere call.
1. Begin by touching the Keypad button.
If you do not have an active Wi-Fi or 3G connection simply dial a number as usual and touch
Tip! To disable Tru over 3G… Navigate to the iPhone's Home screen and select Settings > Truphone. Change ‘Enable VoIP over 3G’ to ‘Off’
2. The first time that you make a Tru Anywhere call, a warning message is displayed reminding you that GSM/cellular charges may apply.
Select Yes or No to choose if you would like to see this message next time.
3. The following message will confirm that you are making a Truphone Anywhere call...
You may also hear: “We are now setting up your Truphone Anywhere call”.
4. The Tru Anywhere call is now in progress.
Did You Know? The local Tru Anywhere ‘access number’ assigned to set up your call will appear as the number being called.
What exactly is a Tru Anywhere call?
Tru Anywhere allows you to make Tru calls, wherever you have standard Mobile/Cell phone coverage. This means you can use Tru for all of your calls, and not just when you have a Wi-Fi/3G connection. You just pay your cellular operator for a local call (in-country landline), and Tru's standard low international call rates!
