Tru App calls
Calls you make on your Tru App fall into three simple categories:
Calls to other Tru or Skype users in Wi-Fi
These calls are always free for both the caller and the recipient. However, while we won’t charge you a penny for these calls, there may be a charge for using commercial Wi-Fi, and when you use a 3G connection there may be a charge from your network operator.
Calls to normal landlines and mobiles worldwide
These calls are significantly lower cost than paying roaming charges when you need to make calls abroad. Check the rates of calls to all countries with our Rate checker
Internet calls without Wi-Fi or 3G (Tru Anywhere)
This feature allows you to make low cost international Tru calls, wherever you have standard mobile phone coverage, so you won’t have to rely on 3G or Wi-Fi. For more information and related costs please see Tru Anywhere

Text Messages
Text messages are free between Tru users who are online, and to all other regular mobile numbers (and Tru users who are offline) you can enjoy a flat rate of 10p a text. It's also free for Tru users to receive texts (which you’ll really appreciate when you're overseas).

Call forwarding
Link your mobile number to your Tru App
You can link a mobile number to your account, so you can still receive calls from other Tru users when you are offline:
- Calls from other Tru users are free to answer when you are online
- If another Tru user calls you when you are offline, they are presented with the option to leave a free voicemail or pay our standard rates to be forwarded to the mobile number linked with your account.
- Calls made by non-Tru users, to your mobile number, will be received via your standard operator as normal
Upgrade to a Tru number
As well as linking your mobile number to your Tru App, you can purchase a Tru Number. Having a Tru Number means you can receive calls via the internet. This is particularly useful on devices that aren't normally able to receive calls.
- Calls to your Tru Number are free to answer when you are online
- If another Tru user calls you when you are offline they are presented with the option to leave a free voicemail or pay our standard rates to be forwarded to the mobile number linked to your account
- If a non Tru user calls you when you are offline, the call will be diverted to our free voicemail. You can also choose to enable forwarding to the mobile number linked with your account (call forwarding charges are as per our standard call rates).
