Mobile Operator opens its doors for business in Australia

Sydney, 16th February 2011: Tru, the world’s first global mobile network, has today opened its doors for business in Australia and announced its SIM card based mobile service for Australian customers. The mobile company, already established in the US and the UK, provides frequent travellers with a solution to the bill shock associated with using mobile phones abroad to make calls, surf the internet and send texts.

The service is available as a consumer pre-pay or a business post-pay service. Tru customers will save over 80% on standard operator roaming rates for calls, texts and data when travelling within Tru’s country network – and get competitive rates for calls and data in over 220 countries across the globe.

Tru customers can have local mobile numbers for any or all of the countries within Tru’s network (Australia, UK and US), all on one SIM. This provides the ultimate in convenience, allowing their contacts in these countries to reach them without paying the cost of an international call. For example, contacts in the UK can use a UK number to get in touch wherever you are in the world, for the cost of a local call to them.

“The costs for travellers to make calls when they are abroad are currently extortionate – and it’s not fair.” said Geraldine Wilson, CEO of Tru. “With Tru customers can save over 90% on making calls, surfing the web and texting within the US, UK and Australia. Had the Hoff been with Tru, he’d never have seen his $8000 bill! We believe in giving our customers a fair deal wherever they are using our service.”
