Truphone Local Anywhere is a full GSM mobile service that makes international communications cost-effective and convenient. A single smart SIM card provides business travelers with local rates and local numbers in all countries that Truphone has established operations. Costly roaming charges can now be avoided without swapping SIM cards, juggling phones or operating complex dial back systems.
A SIM Card is the smart card in a GSM cell phone that holds the subscriber information, enables the phone to connect to the network and the network to identity the subscriber.
Truphone Local Anywhere is currently available for the UK and the US and will rapidly rollout to a number of key destinations in 2010, such as Australia, Hong Kong, The Netherlands and South Africa.
The consumer version of Truphone Local Anywhere is already available. The business version is now available for pre-launch trials and will be launching soon.
Truphone Local Anywhere is totally scalable and reliable, based on carrier class systems and carrier grade interconnects.
Absolutely! And we can also set up sub-accounts for all countries where our customers want to pay for Truphone Local Anywhere in local currency.
The trials give businesses the opportunity to try out Truphone Local Anywhere for the US and the UK before the business version of the service is launched, offering great savings for companies doing transatlantic business. Trial customers will also be offered discounted rates once we launch and complementary handsets during the trial.
Truphone SIM cards need to be inserted into unlocked GSM handsets. If you don't have these handsets or don't want to switch SIM cards we'll offer the use of Nokia 6303 or Nokia E71 handsets for the duration of the trial. You will need to return the handsets at the end of the trial.
Until we launch our business solution we aren't publishing our pricing online. Please see the pricing page for information on our pricing structure or contact us to request full pricing information.
Companies can add up to 5 users to a Truphone Local Anywhere business trial; ideally the 5 users that are most likely to travel between the UK and the US during the trial.
The trial lasts for 30 days. When it's over you'll need to return the courtesy handsets. Unless you sign a full commercial contact we'll then deactivate your SIMs and cancel your account. We won't automatically roll your account over so you don't need to worry about any post-trial commitments.
No, you get a local number in each country where you select to have local rates (your Truphone countries). These are available in all countries where Truphone has established operations. For the trial you will be given both UK and US numbers free of charge. After launch, you will have to buy access to these local rates on a per country basis.
Truphone cleverly selects to display the number that is local to the recipient when a user makes a call. If the recipient is in a country where the user doesn't have a local number Truphone will display their primary number (the one for their home country).
Yes, after launch companies will be able to port their existing mobile numbers to Truphone Local Anywhere.
After launch business customers will be able to manage their Truphone Local Anywhere accounts online.
Truphone is just like other mobile operators with the added benefit that our Local Anywhere service offers local numbers and local rates for all countries where Truphone has established operations - all on a single smart SIM card. The service also offers low cost international calls and competitive roaming charges elsewhere.
Not at all! To start using Truphone Local Anywhere simply insert a Truphone SIM card into an unlocked GSM mobile phone. Then activate it like you would with any other operator service and away you go.
Simply go to the Activation page and follow the instructions. You will need the SIM ID that's printed on your SIM card holder and the Activation Code that was emailed to you or your IT Manager. Alternatively once you've placed a Truphone SIM card into an unlocked GSM phone, dial 808 from that phone and follow the prompts.
Truphone works just like any other mobile service (refer to your phone manual). As the service is designed for international use it's advisable to save your contacts in their international dial format so that you can use them wherever you are. That means entering + followed by the country code for the country you're dialling (e.g. 1 for the US or 44 for the UK), followed by the number (excluding the first 0). E.g. for the UK number 07408888505, you would enter +447408888505. Please note that multi-media messaging (MMS) is not currently supported by Truphone.
A notification message is sent when there is a new voicemail messages waiting. To listen to messages simply dial 505 from your mobile phone. In a small number of countries where the 505 shortcode won't work you can access your voicemail by:
1) Dialling 001213 5996 505
2) If prompted enter your mobile number
3) When prompted enter your Voicemail PIN (that needs to be setup before you travel)
You will need your voicemail PIN to access Truphone voicemail from a small number of countries so you will need to setup your PIN before you travel. It's easy to do this by dialling 505 and following the prompts.
You can use Truphone Local Anywhere in 185 countries throughout the world. Please contact us for a full price list of roaming charges in each country.
To use Truphone Local Anywhere, a Truphone SIM card must be inserted into an unlocked GSM mobile phone. All courtesy phones supplied by Truphone are unlocked but if you're using an alternative phone please ask your IT Manager to ensure that it meets these requirements.
