FierceVoIP 15 logo

We are very pleased to announce that Truphone has today been named as one of FierceVoIP's 'Fierce 15'.

After evaluating hundreds of organisations, the editors of FierceVoIP awarded Truphone with one of the 15 coveted positions.

The positions are awarded to companies that demonstrate the most 'ferocity' in their creativity and innovation in the marketplace. Membership into the 'Fierce 15' designates Truphone as being one of the top IP communications companies of 2008.

FierceVoIP stated that Truphone "decided to power its way around the me-too mobile VoIP pack".

We are glad they noticed! We have always focused (and will continue to focus) on staying one step ahead of our competition in making sure our applications are not only innovative and clever, but more importantly, they save our customers lots of money.

Not a bad way to start November!

By demonstrating the capabilities of Truphone Anywhere on a BlackBerry smartphone, both the judges and the crowd were won over. The judges gave Truphone the overall top score and the award, and Truphone also received the overall crowd vote.

"Capturing the GadgetFest crown is really a credit to our entire engineering and product team that have worked tirelessly to get the application ready for launch," said Tom Carter, Truphone's North American president, who oversaw both award-winning demonstrations.

Truphone now available on BlackBerry

BlackBerry screenshot Attention all BlackBerry smartphone users - Truphone is now available to you!

The Truphone on the BlackBerry application is now ready to download for free, and use to make cheap international calls from your home country.

One of the best parts of the application is that it incorporates Truphone Anywhere, which means you don't need to be in Wi-Fi to make calls.

The application is currently still in beta, so there are many more cool features to come.

Already, leaders in the VoIP community are getting behind the application. GigaOM says that "tight integration of the service (the Truphone app) with my Blackberry address book makes it dead simple to use, especially when making those international long distance calls." TechCrunch agrees, saying "Truphone integrates well with the handset’s address book", going on to highlight that Truphone could be financially beneficial, "especially among business users looking to cut costs. "

For those of you still waiting for your handset to become compatible with Truphone, don't forget to register your interest so that we can let you know when you can start using Truphone too.

Truphone mentioned in WSJ as a tip for overseas travelers

We're pleased to see Truphone mentioned in the Wall Street Journal today.

"...using a cellphone overseas can be cripplingly expensive. The roaming charges are eye-watering. I remember getting stung once for a three-figure sum over a long weekend"

We agree! Our role is to help people save money on phone calls. See our video here (or here for youtube version)

Thanks again for the mention

Customer Service and Truphone on the iPhone

We've got an apology for you.

We've had an amazing response to Truphone on the iPhone. A huge number of you have downloaded it and, as previously posted, we're working hard on our next version.

Naturally, this increased interest in Truphone has meant a significant rise in customer service queries. Unfortunately, this has led to delays in getting back to people and we'd like to apologise for this.

In particular, existing Truphone customers on Nokia devices are experiencing delays migrating to iPhone. The truth is, we under-estimated just how many people would wish to do this and our systems have struggled to handle the actual volumes.

To get back on top of this, we have increased the number of help desk staff and further assistance is coming on-stream shortly. Longer term, we are overhauling our processes to prevent it happening again.

Help is also available on our iPhone forum and answers to FAQs are here.

So once again, sorry about this and we promise we're working hard to get things right. We're a growing company and we genuinely do appreciate your custom.

Thank you
