• Your rates are really low, but I get loads of FREE minutes with my current network so why would I use Truphone?

  

   
  

  One of the great things about Truphone is that you don't need to change anything about your current phone set up. You can keep using your mobile in exactly the same way and you don't need to change your number - where you already get a good deal, that's great!

  But we think we can bring something for everyone. Four reasons:

  • Calling internationally from your mobile is often very expensive and not included in your bundle.
  • We've also abolished roaming charges so Truphone is stunningly good value for making international calls when you're travelling abroad.
  • If you're on a pay as you go deal, compare our rates. You may well find we're cheaper for calling within your own country (and you're avoiding operator monthly charges)
  • Oh, and remember, with the latest version of "Truphone for the iPhone" mobile to mobile calls between online Truphone users are always completely free - worldwide.

• Does it really cost the same amount to make calls wherever I am in the world?

• Who can I send Instant Messages to?

  

   
  

  You can use Truphone for the iPhone to instant message any Skype, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and AIM user.

   

• Is Truphone compatible with the Apple OS 3.0 software?

• Do I need to sign a lengthy contract to use Truphone?

  

   
  

  With Truphone there are no lengthy contracts, no monthly bills and no installation charges.

  It is important to understand that Truphone works alongside your cell/mobile phone service and does not replace it. We use the internet (the most powerful network in the world!) to route your calls using VoIP. Then we pass these massive savings on to you in the form of free (or very, very cheap) calls.

   

• So what do I have to pay for?

  

   
  

  You pay for calls to other mobile phones and landlines (calls to other connected Truphone, Skype or Google Talk users are free, worldwide). But because we use the internet to route your calls our rates are really, really low - especially for calling internationally or when you're abroad.

  You pay for the calls you make by topping up your credit in the My Account section of our website. From here you can also monitor your call history as well as edit all your personal settings.

   

• Do I have to change my number?

  

   
  

  No, you keep your existing phone number.

  Truphone works alongside your existing phone deal. It's a bit like having a separate pay-as-you-go phone on the same handset - you just use it when you want to make low-cost internet calls.

  Truphone calls on the iPhone are just like normal calls. Your cell/mobile number will appear on the phone you are calling but you get Truphone's great rates.

   

• Can I call other mobiles and landlines using Truphone? Can they call me?

  

   
  

  Yes, you can call any phone in the world. It's just like any other mobile call - only much cheaper! You can also call or IM any Skype or Google Talk user.

  Truphone for iPhone users are able to receive calls too! Whenever Truphone is connected via Wi-Fi you will be able to receive calls from other Truphone users for free. Calls from other Networks to your cell/mobile number will be delivered via your cell/mobile service provider as usual. Simple.

   

• How do I make free international calls using Truphone?

  

   
  

  Any calls you make to other online Truphone users are free, whenever you both are connected to Wi-Fi. Simply open Truphone on your iPhone and dial as normal - if you are both using Truphone the call will be completely free. You can also call (and receive calls from) your Google Talk friends for free when you are both in Wi-Fi.

  If you add your friends to your TruFriends list you will be able to see when they are online and when a free call is available. You've probably figured it out by now anyway, but the more people you know with Truphone accounts, the better. So spread the word. If you've got friends, family and colleagues dotted around the world, tell them about Truphone - you can all save loads of money on your phone bills.

   

• What happens if I'm not at home or at work? Can I use Truphone when I'm out and about?

  

   
  

  You can use Truphone wherever you have access to Wi-Fi, and the Truphone Anywhere feature anywhere where you have a cellular signal, so you're not tied to just your home or office network. You can connect to Truphone at any public Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as at friend's houses, other offices, conference centres etc.

  Alternatively you can also take advantage of Truphone Anywhere on the iPhone. Truphone Anywhere allows you to make internet calls with Truphone using Mobile/Cell phone coverage. This means you can use Truphone for all of your calls, and not just when you have Wi-Fi coverage. Truphone Anywhere is particularly useful for making international calls whilst in your home country.

   

• I like the sound of this but it must be complicated. How easy is it to install Truphone?

  

   
  

  Very easy!

  Installing Truphone on an iPhone is just like installing any other app - a piece of cake. Once you've downloaded Truphone from the official Apple App Store, you just have to enter a few details on your iPhone to complete installation. It only takes two minutes.

  We're working hard to make Truphone available on more phones, and will be announcing more compatible handsets in the very near future. If you're due an upgrade soon then why not upgrade to a Truphone compatible phone? It could save you loads of money.

• I'm a bit nervous about downloading anything onto my phone. Will Truphone give my phone a virus?

  

   
  

  No. We take all our customers security very seriously and all our software complies with strict guidelines. Truphone was the first VoIP application to be included in the iTunes App Store, and our Nokia version has passed the strict Symbian certification process (http://www.symbiansigned.com) so you can be sure it's all above board.

• Can I receive free Truphone calls?

  

   
  

  Yes! When you are connected to the Truphone service (using Wi-Fi) you can receive Truphone calls to your mobile number for FREE. This means that you won't have to pay roaming charges whilst overseas to receive calls to your iPhone. Simply open the Truphone App and wait for a call!

  When you are not connected calls will be routed to your cell/mobile number as usual.

   

• How will I know when my Truphone contacts are free to call using Truphone?

  

   
  

  The TruFriends list has a presence feature which shows you when a contact is online and free to call. Online Contacts are indicated by a green icon which is displayed next to your contact within the TruFriends section of the Truphone application.
